The Terrans of the Koprulu Sector use a few different type of Personal Combat Armor for the use of their troops during battles including the iconic CMC Series Marine Combat Armor and the HES Series Ghost Suit. While there may not be a large variety of different type of Combat Armors in use by the Terrans they still possess some of the more interesting pieces of Combat Armor in the history of humanity.

CMC Series Powered Combat Armor Suit[]

The CMC Series Powered Combat Suit is the iconic armor suit worn by the Marines of the Koprulu Sector wither it be the former Confederacy of Man, the new Terran Dominion, rouge Terran Groups like Raynor's Raiders or even Terrans on the edge of civilization like mercenaries and pirates. Originally the CMC Series was first developed by the Cirion Multinational Corporation as shown by the acronym of "CMC" however this changed when the Confederacy found out that Cirion was selling CMC Armor to the Kel-Morian Combine behind their back during the later years of the Guild Wars. Soon after Cirion was forcibly nationalized by the Confederacy and the CMC acronym was changed to mean Confederate Marine Corps. After the fall of the Confederacy the new Terran Dominion and its Emperor allowed Cirion to be reorganized as the producer of Marine Armor for the new Terran Dominion Marine Corps. However due to the length of time the CMC Series of Armor was in general use of other Terran Powers several further variants where developed by other Terran Powers and Groups.

CMC-100 Series Powered Combat Armor[]

The Original CMC Series Armor introduced early in the twenty-fifth century is basically a small step-up from the older PMP Series Pressurized Power Suits. Not many improvements are included in these first CMC Series Power Suits, over the PMP Series, though are quite bit more armored then the older suits.

Notable Models[]

  • CMC-100: The very first model of the entire CMC Series and not in general use any more. Mainly seen in some private collections of wealthy individuals across the sector.
  • CMC-125: The final model of the CMC-100 Series which sports an improved power plant and hydraulics system. Like the older CMC-100 suits these are not really seen outside of private collections today.

CMC-200 Series Powered Combat Armor[]

Replaced the older CMC-100 series around the mid-25th Century and used by the Confederate Marine Corps till the start of the Guild Wars were it would start to be replaced with the superior CMC-300 series models though CMC-200 armor would remain in service with the Confederate Marine Corps for the entire Guild Wars. It is still in use by the time of the Great War in the various Colonial Militias and Law Enforcement agencies. However currently is not in service having been replaced by the CMC-300 in second-line duty.

Notable Models[]

  • CMC-200: The basic model and improves on the older CMC-100 models including a new salvage system that when the suit's arm or leg is breached, the suit seals it off in a tourniquet. Other improvements include a new air conditioner, a backpack which channels heat away from the body and limited life support.
  • CMC-220: A new invention in the CMC Combat Armor that gives the armor paired “Firestorm” Flamethrowers on the lower fore-arms of the suits making the new Firebat Assault Marine. However one of the main weakness of these new armors is that the fuel tank isn’t armored and easy to make it explode killing the Firebat along with any nearby allied forces.
  • CMC-225: The standard Confederate Marine Armor during the early days of the Guild Wars. It would be replaced by the superior CMC-300 by the end of the Guild Wars.
  • CMC-230XE “Thunderstrike”: Experimental Marine Armor introduced during the Guild Wars, and includes a new jet-pack dominated backpack allowing the Marine to make combat drops around the battlefield. However fell out of use thanks to reliability issues.
  • CMC-230XF “Firestrike”: A Firebat version of the regular CMC-230XE Armor that sports newer “Perdition” Series Flamethrowers. It is also the first of the Firebat Armors to have the fuel tank integrated into the armored backpack which helps to prevent enemies killing Firebats by shooting the Fuel tanks.
  • CMC-240: Reconditioned and Re-purposed CMC-220 Firebat Power Armor Model that was started to be sold in mass to other Terran Powers after the end of the Guild Wars. These reconditioned units have the armored fuel tank and backpack from the experimental CMC-230XF Firestrike Armor. By the time of the Great War these units are in use by the Militias of some of the poorer planets in the Confederacy.
  • CMC-245: Reconditioned and Re-purposed CMC-225 Power Armor Model that was started to be sold in mass to other Terran Powers after the end of the Guild Wars. These suits mainly become the main armor suits in use by the various Confederate Militias after the Guild Wars and would still be in use by the start of the Great War in some of the Militias of some of the poorer planets in the Confederacy.

CMC-300 Series Powered Combat Armor[]

Thanks to feedback from Marine units during the Guild Wars the Confederacy would introduce the new CMC-300 series during the final years of the Guild Wars. The new model series incorporates more advanced NBC Protection, full life support, new shoulder mounted illuminators, mufflers which reduce the amount of noise the suit makes and the user's heat signature, and a new visor HUD System built into the suit’s visor. However it would be later replaced by the more superior CMC-400 in 2497, though some Confederate Marine Units and Militias would continue to use the CMC-300 all the way to the Great War in 2499. Also thanks to being in use for several years it would be continued to be updated all the way till the early 2497 when the CMC-400 would be introduced.

Notable Models[]

  • CMC-300: The new basic model introduced during final years of the Guild Wars and becomes the standard Marine armor for the Confederate Marines during the years after the war. It would include a new Heads-Up Display and new Software as well.
  • CMC-305: The new Confederate Firebat Armor that is equipped newer "Flamer" Flamethrowers and the armored fuel tank backpack from the CMC-230XF “Firestrike” Armor. It also sports a better fuel mix and the same new Heads-Up-Display of the regular CMC-300 Armor though it should be noted the new HUD for this armor is bit different due it being using in closer combat then the regular Marine.
  • CMC-310: An advanced Command suit for commanders that is developed thanks to feedback from marine commanders during the Guild Wars. These suits are equipped with a superior battlefield communication system built into its backpack which allows to a commander to keep in contact with their marines during a full-on battle.
  • CMC-340: A brand new Marine armor introduced in 2495 and sports several new improvements over the older CMC-300 suit. These improvements include a lockdown system that is superior over the older system, improved structural support that improves the amount of support that the suit provides is greatly increased from earlier models, and the C-14 Series Rifle can be connected to the suit if needed for more easier targeting as well as being powered by the suit’s reactor.
  • CMC-345: The Firebat version of the CMC-340 Armor and sports the same improvements of the regular Marine Armor. It is also the first Firebat armor to have the flamethrower fuel-lines be integrated into the armor itself instead of outside of the armor which increases the survivability of the Firebat while in combat.
  • CMC-350: The newest Marine Commander Armor that sports the same new improvements of the regular armor but also includes several of its own improvements that make the armor far-superior over the older Commander Armor. These improvements include a new HUD that includes "navigation mode" which superimposes a map of surrounding terrain and pinpoints prominent features, and a data system which, with the appropriate link, can let the user 'jack in' to video and data feeds, the information scrolling across the visor.
  • CMC-360: A reconditioned and rebuilt CMC-300 Series Armor that is sold to many after the introduction of the newer CMC-400 Series armor in late 3495 this includes the Kel Morian Combine, various Colonial Militias, and some Mercenaries. These units have some of the new improvements introduced by the new CMC-400 series.
  • CMC-360DH "Death Head": This custom-built armor was developed by armor-tech Hiram Feek for the use of his friend James Raynor who would continue to use this armor for several years through his service as a Marshall and into the Great War as a member of the Sons of Korhal. Raynor would finally replace the armor with a superior CMC-400 series armor around the time of the Brood War thanks to the heavy damage to the "Death Head" Armor during the fighting on Char and later on Aiur.

CMC-400 Series Powered Combat Armor[]

A new model series introduced in 2495, five years before the later-named Great War. The CMC-400 introduces several upgrades including a new integrated Stimpack system, a new communication array, and several other upgrades over the CMC-300 Series. This series is one of the most used series of the entire CMC line and several other Terran groups have used over time since its introduction even including various mercenaries, independent groups, and pirates. Not to mention the return of Cirion as the main producer of the armor after the Fall of the Confederacy and the rise of the Terran Dominion.

Notable Models[]

  • CMC-400: The new basic marine armor of the CMC-400 Series after its introduction. This unit would sport several new improvements including a new integrated Stimpack system, a new communication array, and several other upgrades over the CMC-300 Series. These suits also include some of the improvements made by the CMC-350 Marine Commander Armor including the new HUD and data-link which makes things a bit easier.
  • CMC-405: A brand-new light combat suit that would replace the old CMC Light Armor Series and would be used by a variety of different non-Marine personal including ships crew during combat and security troops. Therefore often just called Light Powered Combat Suits due to this. A variant of this model would in use by forward-deployed Combat Medics which are often by non-Confederate groups including Colonial Militia units.
  • CMC-410: The newest Marine Commander Armor which sports new data-link capabilities being able to directly interface with an Adjutant AI and a brand-new Communication System that is smaller then the backpack mounted system.
  • CMC-415: The new basic Firebat Armor in use by the Firebats of the Confederate Marine Corps during the introduction of the CMC-400 Series. Not that much different from the older CMC-345 Firebat Armor and only sports the standard CMC-400 Series improvements.
  • CMC-430: The Basic Dominion Marine Combat Armor introduced by the new Terran Dominion soon after its formation. Doesn’t really sport any improvements over the Confederate Built CMC-400 Marine Armor besides new flashlights built into the chest plate of the armor.
  • CMC-430R: A specially upgraded series of combat armors in general use by the Independent Group Raynor's Raiders replacing their varied, aging, forms of Combat Armors they had been using over the course of the fighting on Char and Aiur. Nothing is changed from the Dominion used regular CMC-430 armor besides personal touches and no real Stim-Pack System.
  • CMC-435: A new light combat suit developed by the Terran Dominion and is heavily based on the earlier CMC-405 armor used by the Confederacy. Unlike the earlier CMC-405 suit the newer CMC-435 would not only be used in supporting positions like ships crew and security but some light infantry units used them as well foregoing the new versions of the CMC Light Combat Armor developed by the Dominion. After the end of the Brood War a variant of this suit would be developed for the use of new Dominion Combat Medics based on the use of Combat Medics by the UED and the various Colonial Militia Groups that had been doing it for years.
  • CMC-440: A new version of the Firebat Armor developed by the Terran Dominion soon after its formation and is the first Firebat armor to step away from the more Marine-inspired regular armor. Basically the armor suit is bulked up from Marine armor and no-longer sports its fuel in an armored backpack but in the shoulders of the armor. Also the clam-shell like faceplate is replaced with a smaller version. Later this heavier combat suit would lead to the development of the CMC-600 heavy combat suit series.
  • CMC-450: The Marine Combat Armor introduced after the end of the Brood War and is the first armor suit to incorporate a combat shield, mostly the LarsCorp developed M98 Ballistic Combat Shield, which increases marine survivability by 25%. Other improvements to the armor include a new HUD-system and a new reactor backpack.
  • CMC-455: The Dominion Marine Commander Armor Suit introduced after the end of the Brood War that includes one major improvement over the older Confederate built CMC-410 Command Suit and that is a built-in Class-VI micro-Adjutant AI System. This allows a Dominion Marine Commander to counter enemy movements far easier then before. However this new system was soon removed from the armor after several bugs where reported in the AI therefore replaces it with a dedicated data-link instead like the CMC-410 armor.
  • CMC-455DH: A new armor developed for the use of James Raynor, Commander of Raynor's Raiders, after he lost his captured CMC-410 armor during a lengthy fight on a Zerg held world after the end of the Brood War. This new armor was mostly based on his earlier Deathhead armor therefore possesses the same Skull like faceplate but includes several other improvements including a dedicated Data-Link to the experimental Class-V Adjutant AI which the Raiders had captured from the Dominion.
  • CMC-460: With the success of the CMC-440 Firebat Armor the Dominion continued with the new "heavy" Firebat concept and introduced the new CMC-460 armor after the end of the Brood War. Due to the Firebat combating enemies up-close armor was increased across the body of the suit more-so then any other CMC series armor suit. However this made the suit somewhat top-heavy and put pressure on the joints of the suit tearing them up due the weight of the armor. This made the suit a failure but the Dominion continued to look into a heavier Firebat Armor System which would become the CMC-660 Armor System a few years later.
  • CMC-465: A new version of the earlier CMC-460 Firebat, which had been deemed a failure by the Dominion, that was developed by Rory Swann for use of the Raynor's Raiders who thought that increasing armor on a Firebat was a good idea but the Dominion was doing it wrong. Therefore he would take the armor to the drawing board and completely redesign the armor into the new CMC-465 Firebat Armor. Swann started by removing the Neo-Steel from the armor and replacing it a lighter titanium and carbon composite with Neo-Steel only reinforcing the chest and head of the armor. He also once again added an armored backpack tank to the armor and introduced a new "Boiler" Gauntlet which sports two firing ports built into each of the suit's Gauntlet. The resulting armor suit was a vast improvement over the earlier failed CMC-460 armor and the still in use CMC-440 armor.

CMC-500 Series Powered Combat Armor []

Around 2503 the Terran Dominion started to look into replacing their CMC-400 series armor with a whole new armor series and after some months of development would introduce the new CMC-500 armor series which would be introduced to the Terran Dominion Marine Corp at large just in time for the start of the Second Great War. Overall the CMC-500 series possess numerous improvements over the older armors including a new holographic HUD System, a brand-new fusion reactor, heavily based on the reactors from the UED Smith-Series Combat Armor, and the capability for using Orbital Drop Pods.

Notable Models[]

  • CMC-500: The new Basic Marine Combat Armor for the Dominion. Includes new chest flashlights, and newly improved armor though it should be noted that the visor of the suit is still a major weak-point of the armor. Also sports a new holographic HUD System and new reactor system.
  • CMC-505: A specially created suit used for criminals who either couldn’t be resocializad for some reason or special missions that require these suits for some reason or another. These suits are basically walking prisons, due to wearer being sealed inside and if it is tampered with at all the kill-switch is used killing the wearer. The kill-switch is also used for those who disobey orders from their controllers. Other then that it is not much different from the standard CMC-500 model.
  • CMC-510: The new Dominion Marine Commander Suit that includes an improved Class-VII Micro-Adjutant AI System and a holographic emitter built into the chest plate of the armor similar to that of the UED Smith-Series Company Commander Suits which can be used for on-site briefings.
  • CMC-515: A brand-new type of Combat Armor introduced by the Terran Dominion for the use of their new Reaper Corps and is heavily based on the older Thunderstrike series armor from the Guild Wars just with the variety of problems fully ironed out. The Jump-Pack of the suit allows the Reapers to leap around the battle field going over cliffs and other things blocking the paths of regular Marines.
  • CMC-520: A new type of Light Combat Armor heavily based on the CMC-515 armor just without the jump-pack and is developed for the use of Light Infantry and Security troops.

CMC-600 Series Heavy Powered Combat Armor []

The new Heavy Powered Combat Armor System had been in development by both the Terran Dominion's R&D Department and Cirion for several years. It was only around late 2502 that they managed to develop this new heavy armor system: The CMC-600 Heavy Combat Armor. Overall the new armor series was quite larger then any other combat armor seen before and is noteworthy for removing the clam-shell like helmets from the design replacing it with a fully enclosed helmet which sports fully holographic displays inside the helmet allowing the user to feel like he wasn't wearing a enclosed helmet.

Notable Models[]

  • CMC-600: The basic heavy armor system allows a Marine to carry heavy weapons into combat including heavy portable missile launchers, and heavy automatic chain guns. A few notable variants include the capability to mount heavy weapons onto the shoulders of the armor but is quite rare with many favoring handheld heavy weapons.
  • CMC-660: Thanks to the new Heavy Armor System the Terran Dominion finally was able to create its new Heavy Firebat Armor. This new Firebat armor sported the heavy Incinerator Flamethrower Gauntlets each one sported a pair of huge firing ports able to fire a large spread of flames more-so then any other Firebat armor.
  • 5-4 Heavy Armor: A variant of the CMC-660 Firebat Armor that was introduced by the Raynor's Raiders and developed by Rory Swann who favored his own lighter CMC-465 Firebat Armor over the towering monstrosity of the CMC-660. Therefore taking a few captured CMC-660 armor suits Swann would replace the Incinerator Gauntlets with Quad K12 "Punisher" Grenade Launchers and the fire insulation standard on all Firebat suits replaced with more Neo-Steel Plates. He also put a micro-fabrication plant into the armor's backpack which allows the manufacturing of its own ammo which then goes through an autoloader system allowing an constant firing. Swann would then dub these units Pillagers which soon where incorporated into the Raider's Forces. The Dominion would follow up with this development with their own version dubbed the Marauder whose only difference from the Pillager Armor would be the use larger Twin K12 Grenade Launchers in place of the smaller Quad mounts.

HES Series Psonic-Powered Combat Suit[]

The HES Series Psonic-Powered Combat Suit, or better known as the Ghost Suit is a series of light combat suits developed for the use of the Confederacy's feared Ghost units. These lightweight combat suits allowed the Ghost to not only Cloak itself but use its powers far easier. The origin of these suits stemmed from the old Hostile Environment Suits developed for the use of Miners and such, which was carried over in the Combat Suit's series name. Overtime these suits became evermore different from the original suits developed for miners till they became what we know today and used by Ghost operatives across the Sector. However due to the introduction of the Specter the HES Series has been split into two sub-types, the Ghost Suit, and the Specter Suit.

Ghost Suit[]

Overall the Ghost Suit was developed more to keep the operative quick and agile allowing the Ghost to easily sneak in the shadows around the Sector. It was the first HES Combat Suit developed which set the standard for other similar suits including the Specter Suit.

Models[]

  • HES-01: The first suits developed by the Confederacy from the old dedicated Environmental Suits in use by miners. These suits didn’t possess any of the further advancements including the cloak system that would later make the HES series so famous. The first Ghost Operatives would use these suits during the Guild Wars.
  • HES-02: A newer suit developed after the Guild Wars and is the first suit to be equipped with the recently developed psi-sensitive artificial muscle fibers allowing a Ghost to channel their psychic powers through the suit to augment their strength when needed. Later examples of this model sport some of the new Cloaking Modules but don’t have the power to last for very long unlike later designs.
  • HES-03: A suit developed by the Confederacy around the same time as the CMC-400 Series and sports a brand new Cloaking Module superior to the late-addition to the later produced HES-02 Suits. Also the first suit to be able to be fully sealed just like a CMC Series Marine Armor, and sport a full enclosed helmet.
  • HES-04: The last of the Confederate developed HES Series Suits and is introduced just before the start of the Great War. This suit sports a new OE9 “Ocular” Head Piece that allows a ghost to be able to see further thanks to a new HUD design.
  • HES-05: The first of the new Terran Dominion developed HES Series Armor Suits and nothing is really different from the older HES-04 developed by the Confederacy. The only difference being thinner psi-sensitive artificial muscle fibers that make this suit superior over the older models.
  • HES-06: A new HES Armor Suit developed after the end of the Brood Wars and includes a new cloaking module with an expanded battery that allows a longer cloaking time.
  • HES-07: The latest Dominion HES Suit and introduces the Nyx-Class Cloaking Module due to studies on Protoss Cloaking Technology. Also included is an integrated psi blade in the right armor gauntlet.

Specter Suit[]

The Specter Suit while a bit similar to the similar Ghost Suit is a bit different with more armor due to the Specter more of a dedicated front-line support unit then the assassin like nature of the Ghost.

Models[]

  • HES-08: An armor suit specifically developed for the use of the new Ghost units from Project Shadow Blade. They possess a thicker muscle fiber weave to better augment these new ghost units, and possesses a new complete face mask that is fully attached into the suit itself as standard which has these new suits covering the new Shadowblade Ghosts from head to toe.
  • HES-09: A new armor suit for the Specters in the Raynor's Raiders and possess some slight improvements over the older HES-08 Armor including a new Cloak module based on the Nyx-Class in the HES-07 Ghost Suit and a lightweight armored vest included which sports a carbon-titanium composite.
  • HES-10: A suit that is solely in use by the Umojan Shadowguard Operatives and replaces the aging HES-04 suits they had been using for several years. It was thanks to the Umojan Protectorate allied with both the original rouge Shadow Blade Group under Tosh and later the Raynor's Raiders that allowed the Protectorate to end up with these newer suits. Overall not much is different from the HES-09 suit of the Raiders mainly having the Cyclops Head Unit instead of the standard helmet of the HES-09.

Design Notes and Trivia[]

  • This page and its contents is developed for the use of anyone who is developing their own Starcraft Fanfiction just give the creator of this page some credit for the various custom-created sections of the page.
  • This page was developed due to the writer getting tired of seeing authors continue to have Marines use CMC-300 armor well into the Second Great War when we know there was CMC-400 armor created around the time of the First Great War. He also believes by the Second Great War the CMC-400 would need to be replaced hence the introduction of the CMC-500 series armors.
    • Like the page itself please give the writer credit for the creation of the CMC-500 series armors when you use them in your own story.
  • It should be mentioned that the writer is well aware of the CMC-660 Armor having two generations with the Firebat armor seen in the First Great War the first and the heavier armor we see them using the Second Great War the second. However the writer would like to mention that he is in no way a believer of this theory therefore the reasoning for the different Firebat armor mentioned in this page.
