The Hardlight Rifle, sometimes called the Light Rifle for short, is a Xel'Naga select-fire rifle recreated by the Savrai Protoss through reverse engineering Xel'Naga technology.

The Hardlight Rifle, as its name would suggest, utilizes a form of Hardlight as ammunition. The Hardlight Rifle is capable of both single-shot and burst-fire modes. Not only is it semi-automatic and useful at medium range, but it also has a powerful zoom feature.
The Hardlight Rifle is nearly silent, with negligible muzzle signature. The Light Rifle weighs considerably less than what its size would suggest, making weilding it far easier. The use of photon particle acceleration coupled with Xel'Naga Hardlight technology offers two distinct advantages, the first is its damaging properties over the Terran sniper rifles, as the ionized particles can pass through material easily, making it effective against targets behind cover.
The Light Rifle also excels at target penetration, maximizing its lethality, as the beam will nearly always pass through a target completely. Although the size of the wounds inflicted on a target are small, the damage done is quite severe in relation to size.
The Hardlight Rifle's barrel is very long with its floating scope located on the top, and folds into the weapon for storage. The scope on the Light Rifle has both sliding adjustible zoom as well as levels of zoom for greater accuracy, and ease of use. It is capable of 2x to 10x magnification with levels of 2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, and 10x, respectively.
The Light Rifle has an effective range of 2500 meters, making it far superior to any other long-range rifle.
It is also a Halo ripoff.
