Collapsible carapaces are a Zerg infiltration evolution.
While most of their tactics revolve around swarming and overrunning enemy forces and encampments, more subtle approaches have become necessary. This is due to all dominant races in the Koprulu Sector being aware how important it is to stop a zerg hive from growing bigger. As a result, more sophisticated detection equipment have been developed.
To enhance their infiltration strains, Collapsible carapaces have been evolved as a standard natural defense. This allows them to squeeze through tight spaces like Supply Depots and air ducts of starships. Mainly used by smaller strains, this evolution allows them to get deep into enemy bases where detection is nearly impossible and start destroying it from within.
